Scientell worked with the National Geotechnical Centrifuge Facility to develop an overview brochure and its 2025 Annual Report. Through engaging stories, researcher interviews, infographics and design, we translated complex engineering research into accessible publications showcasing the facility’s capabilities, people, partnerships and impact.
Client: National Geotechnical Centrifuge Facility (NGCF), University of Western Australia
Audience: Researchers, industry partners, government stakeholders, funding bodies, university collaborators and the broader geotechnical engineering community

Description
The NGCF is Australia’s only geotechnical centrifuge facility and one of the largest and busiest globally. Its specialised equipment allows researchers to simulate real-world conditions at a smaller scale, helping improve the safety and reliability of offshore infrastructure.
Scientell worked closely with the NGCF team to develop 2 complementary communication products showcasing the facility’s capabilities, achievements and impact. We initially developed an NGCF overview brochure introducing its specialised infrastructure, people, research activities and engagement with industry and research partners.
Building on this work, we wrote and designed the NGCF 2025 Annual Report, bringing together research achievements and personal stories into a visually engaging 24-page publication. We conducted 6 interviews with researchers and staff to develop accessible project highlights exploring innovations in offshore wind foundations, anchoring technologies, seabed testing and international research collaborations. The report also featured staff profiles, industry partnerships, engagement activities and future research directions.
We developed an ‘NGCF by numbers’ infographic, highlighting 28 centrifuge modelling projects, 68 publications using or reporting NGCF data, and 384 days of centrifuge operation across its 3 centrifuges. The infographic provides an accessible snapshot of the facility’s activity and impact.
