Cherese Sonkkila

Cherese is a Science Communicator at Scientell. She is passionate about translating complex information into engaging content. She prides herself on her creative flair and has worked on a range of popular science, education and bespoke publications. Most notably, she has written for the Postgraduate Survival Guide, the Heinemann Biology 1 textbook, and COSMOS magazine.

She was the art and popular culture editor for Lateral Magazine in 2017, and a founder and editor-in-chief of in Brief Magazine in 2012. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from The University of Melbourne and completed her thesis on the impacts of science communication on experiences of natural environments. She currently works with academics at The University of Melbourne researching urban ecology and environmental psychology. In her spare time, she can be found performing science-related stand-up comedy and was a finalist in RAW Comedy 2019.
